P = Steps performed by Parents; K = Steps performed by Kids

  1. Wash and drain the lentils (P and K)

  1. Cut into slices the carrots, potato, onions and celery (P)

  2. Put the lentils in a large pot and add the celery, potato, carrots and 5 cups of water (K)

  3. Cover and boil the mixture on high heat (P)

  4. Reduce the heat and leave the mixture to simmer for 30 minutes until the lentils are completely cooked (P)

  5. Add the salt and pepper (K)

  6. Blend the mixture using a hand blender until the texture becomes smooth and even (K)

  7. Leave the mixture to simmer for a few more minutes (P)

  8. Serve the soup directly with the toasted bread (P and K)
